Christmas in the Mountains… Simple, Rustic Holiday Decorating

joy of nesting

When my clients Leonora and Randall agreed to allow their beautiful home to be on the Association of American University Women’s annual Christmas home tour, we were all thrilled.  The home was a big tour hit this year.  In anticipation of the event, Leonora, Randall, David, and I took an afternoon together to go shopping for Christmas decorations and have lunch.  Lamp Jamie Young, sofa Lee Industries, coffee table, Buus, custom fringed throw pillows SSID.

The day before the tour, Leonora set out the accessories we had purchased, her beautiful tablecloth found on a trip to Florence, and we did fresh arrangements of greenery with olive, manzanita, and pomegranate from the home’s beautiful property.

Leonora found these wonderful pillows that are a “just right” touch to her home.  Woven chairs by Mainly Baskets, seat fabrics Lee Industries, curtain fabric Fabricut, throw pillows Restoration Hardware.

Every little nook of Leonora’s home has a skylight, gorgeous subtle plaster, and hand painted ‘trompe l’oeil.

This objet d’art, I think, is an antique olive oil jar.

The fireplace is the one remaining feature in this completely remodeled, custom home.  Painting by California artist, Leslie Hurst.

Detail of tablecloth and salad plate.  Dining room chair, Buus.

Built-in hutch and curved niche.  Black ware vase from Mexico.

Gorgeous area rug in the entry, presided over by Mac, a sweet shelter dog recently adopted.
